HYDERABAD: We will win. He says this with certain exuberance that is hard to ignore.

The campaign in Secunderabad Assembly constituency is picking heat and seeking re-election, T. Padma Rao of TRS is in no mood to spare any effort. He has hit the road and is criss-crossing the constituency with a zest that could dampen the mood in opposition camp to some extent.

Having trounced TDP’s T. Srinivas Yadav in 2004 and bringing the then Tourism Minister’s two-time victory trip to a halt, Mr.Rao exudes confidence of handing over yet another defeat to his political foe. “Don’t even think about the result. I am going to win,” he says.

The TRS candidate speaks of a wave in favour of separate Telangana State in the constituency and hopes to ride the crest. “Wherever I am going, the electorate is echoing the Jai Telangana slogan. This is enough for me to feel assured about the outcome,” he says.

Achievements

Mr. Rao also lists out all that had been done for the constituency in his first term and hopes the same will ensure that he is elected back. Krishna water line from Adikmet to Seetaphalmandi, Manjeera line to Lalapet, Rs.20 crore sewer line from Marredpally to Nallakunta and he reels out the list. “Voters will not forget my contribution for development of constituency and what more do you want?”

The campaign is trying to cover as many localities as possible and Mr. Rao says he is aiming at a direct rapport with voters through door-to-door contact. “They have immense faith in our commitment to the cause of Telangana and they will return the party. Have no doubts,” he tries to be emphatic.
